Hide and Seek

Hide and Seek. The secret may be in being able to do both at the same time.

I have an imaginary Friend whom I've known since forever and who'll probably be around that much longer. Playing hide and seek, I'd forget which of whom was doing what. We'd end up running into one another or not seeing the other for days!

We raced bikes, rode horses, frightened fish, anything you could imagine, we've done it. We've ridden homemade rafts on the Mississippi River and climbed the North Face of the Eiger. There are other adventures ahead for us, and I plan to make the time.

I don't see my imaginary Friend as often as I used to or as often as I'd like. I miss my Friend when we don't get together like when we were younger, when life was simpler and time wasn't such a scarce commodity.

I do keep my Friend close by. As close as the nearest book, or as close as a silent moment where I can close my eyes and see a different world. To open the page of a book is to begin a journey that can stretch the imagination and transcend time.

Edward Abbey. <--- wiki link

Everything I have read by Edward Abbey has left me with a different attitude (for the better, of course). It's time for a refresher. Right now, my imaginary Friend is with a seasonal Park Ranger in Moab, Utah and he looks a lot like George Hayduke.

Edward Abbey's best!

Peace Y'all!
