If I Had My Rathers

This story has always left me a bit perplexed. I’ve never lived in NYC, so I’m not sure if this is something that happens all the time or not.

In 1986, CBS News anchor Dan Rather was attacked outside of his NYC apartment. During the attack, the assailant, while kicking and punching Dan Rather, kept repeating, “Kenneth! What’s the frequency?”

What do you do after something like that, eh? One option would be to wait until a famous band writes and records a song about it. One step further would be to sing that song with the band on The Late Show with DavidLetterman. Here’s a YouTube link to Dan Rather and R.E.M. performing What’s the Frequency, Kenneth? on The Late Show with David Letterman.

“What’s the Frequency?”

Only Kenneth knows for sure.

”That is not my name!”

Peace, Y’all!
