When Johnny Comes Marching Home

I see these on a shelf or in a box somewhere around the house every year or so, usually about this time. There's often a flood of emotion, good and bad. I'll dust them off and put them back on the shelf for a while. I know they're there. I don't look at them often. I know what they look like and remember every day what they are worth.

The unit crests at the bottom of the picture are from 2nd Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Regiment. That was the Combat Unit that I served with during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. On the right is an Army Commendation Medal. On the left, a Bronze Star.

Artillery men,

To Saint Barbara we pray.

Protect and guide us.

Peace, Y'all!
