Animation

One person who saw this contraption asked me if I was growing something in there. Probably not what they were talking about, but my reply was, “Yes. Concepts and ideas!”

This is the photography/scene capture section of Really Big Shoe Productions, Animation Station. Since I am learning on the fly, I build /redesign a lot of this as I go. I recently built a 2’x4’x6’ version of this table. It didn’t work out. So far, I’ve been able to do everything I need on this 2’x2’x4.5’enclosure which holds my camera and lighting.

I set up the workstation so I can see what the camera sees on my computer screen. The photo was taken by Kari when she caught me working on a mountain background scene for my video “Bring the Rain.”

I had taped four blue pages together, then cut and tore four black pages, taped them together and tacked that layer on top of the blue pages. I had rubbed chalk all over the black pages to create the look of mountains.

To get a 35-second stop-motion scene, I took 520 photographs, moving the 34-inch combined strip in 2mm increments for every shot. I shot it out of focus because it will be backgroud in my next video,

Agitation reigns,

But there’s calm in the corner.

That is where I’ll be.

Peace Y’all!
