About this time every year, the DeO'Jie has a birthday. She moved in and took over the apartment in January or so of 2009. The shelter told me that she was a November '08 puppy. That makes her about 84 in dog years. That's a lot. She still gets around pretty well, but we can't let her drive anymore.
DeO'jie notices when I open 40lbs of dog food and pour it into the bin. She realizes that she is less than a month away from imminent starvation. "Please order another bag as soon as possible," she says. "Times are lean. And more treats too, please. It's my birthday, you know."
