Loaves and Fishes

First off, the painting and then the Ramblin’.

C. R. Pap Pap Troxell is one of my favorite painters. He painted my CD cover for I Ain’t Stayin’. Have a look!

This painting is “Wooly Worm Trails,” but there are fish in it. Oh, this painting is for sale at OOAK Art Gallery

A few years back I was riding with a friend somewhere near Orlando, FL. She went through the drive-thru at Arby’s. Yes, Arby’s. Roast beef Arby’s, that’s the one.  I didn’t know that she’d ordered a fish sandwich. I didn’t know that a fish sandwich was an option at Arby’s. All I heard was the cashier at the drive-thru say, “Enjoy your fish.”

I wondered if “Enjoy your fish” was something that people in Florida say to each other as a farewell. Later I found out that there was a fish sandwich involved. Weird, anyway.

Jesus feeds the multitude.

A great crowd had gathered to hear the Master parabolize. They brought their sick to be healed. Of the four thousand, besides women and children (Luke, 15:38), some kid thought that bringing lunch was a good idea. (Plot twist)

“Hey, kid! Give me your lunch!”

Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, said to Jesus, “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fishes.” (John, 6:9)

From that, the Master fed the multitude and had leftovers, about twelve baskets. One for each Disciple. There is no mention as to what wine was served with the loaves and fishes. Perhaps this was the first use of the phrase, “Enjoy your fish.”

On the way to a parabolizing and healing, some kid stops by Arby’s for lunch.

“Five loaves, two small fish.

White wine and fries. Is that all?

Enjoy your fish, Kid.”

Enjoy your fish, Y’all
