Kraken

John Forslund was the only voice I knew for the Carolina Hurricanes Hockey television broadcast. Color commentary by Tripp Tracy with John’s play-by-play has kept me as a fan for a couple of decades.

2020: John Forslund’s contract with the Carolina Hurricanes was not renewed. That was disappointing. I enjoy listening to Tripp Tracy with Mike Maniscalco, but I’ll miss John Forslund.

John has called several games for NBC, FoxSports, ESPN. That’s where I expected to see him.

Surprise! 2021 - 2022 will be the NHL inaugural season for the Seattle Kraken (I love the name). January 26th, the Seattle Kraken announced John Forslund as play-by-play TV announcer. Just as he began years ago with the Hartford Whalers and came with the team to Carolina, John starts with a new team with nowhere to go but forward and upward!

Kraken is not my “new favorite team,” but I’ll be sure to catch a bunch of their game broadcasts.

“Hey hey, whaddya say?”

Nice landing, John. Kraken scored!

“That’s hockey, baby!”

Peace, Y'all!
